Today, 11 March 2018, the judges of the International Criminal Court (ICC), sitting in a plenary session, elected Judge Chile Eboe-Osuji (Nigeria) as President of the Court for a three-year term with immediate effect. Judge Robert Fremr(Czech Republic) was elected First Vice-President and Judge Marc Perrin de Brichambaut (France) Second Vice-President.

The first Nigerian to become the president of the International Criminal Court (ICC) was Chile Eboe-Osuji, who was elected in 2018. Prior to his election, Eboe-Osuji had served as a judge on the ICC since 2012. He has extensive experience in international law, having previously served as a special advisor to the ICC prosecutor and as a professor of law at several universities. He is considered an expert on issues of international criminal justice, and his election to the presidency of the ICC was seen as a significant achievement for Nigeria.

However, it is important to note that the ICC presidency is a rotating position and changes every three years among the judges elected by their peers.
