In 1978, Afrobeat musician, Fela Kuti married 27 ofhis backup dancers in one day.Fela had asked all the ladies in his band if theywanted to marry him and 27 of them agreed.Then on February 20, 1978, Fela called 12traditional priests who presided over the weddingceremony which took place at a hotel in Lagos.After the wedding, he took all his 27 wives toGhana for their honeymoon.However, eight years later in 1986, he divorced allof them with the claim that “Marriage bringsjealousy and selfishness”.
