    • The first Nollywood actor is Kenneth Okonkwo. He was born on November 6, 1968, in Nsukka, Enugu State, Nigeria. Kenneth Okonkwo is a lawyer by profession but is best known for his acting career, which began in 1991 with his role in the movie “Living in Bondage.”

      “Living in Bondage” was the first Nollywood movie that gained national and international recognition. The movie, produced by Kenneth Nnebue, tells the story of a man who seeks wealth and power through diabolic means. Kenneth Okonkwo played the lead role of Andy Okeke, a struggling young man who becomes wealthy after he sacrifices his wife to a cult.

      The success of “Living in Bondage” paved the way for the growth of Nollywood and brought recognition to its actors. Kenneth Okonkwo became a household name and went on to star in several other Nollywood movies, including “Glamour Girls,” “The Price of Love,” and “End of the Wicked.”

    • Pete Edochie is highly rated in the Nigeria movie Industry as a role model and father to a lot of upcoming actors and actresses. The first time he went on stage was in 1962 at age 15 when he was a student at St. John’s College. He featured in the drama; Merchant of Venice by William Shakespeare.

      He came into prominence in the 1980s when he played the lead role of Okonkwo in an NTA adaptation of Chinua Achebe’s all-time bestselling novel, Things Fall Apart, for which he won an international BBC Award.

      Since then, Pete has featured in hundreds of movies and has won awards locally and internationally.

    • The honor of being the first actor in Nollywood goes to Pete Edochie, who starred in the film “Living in Bondage” in 1992. This film is widely considered to be the first modern Nollywood movie, and it launched Edochie’s career as one of the most respected actors in Nigeria.
