Great! I’ll start with Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti, who was a political activist and women’s rights leader in the 1940s and 1950s. She was the mother of Fela Kuti, whom I mentioned earlier. Second, I’ll list Tai Solarin, who was an educator, human rights activist, and writer. Third, I’ll list Ken Saro-Wiwa, who was a writer and political activist who spoke out against the Nigerian military government and was executed in 1995.
Fourth, I’ll list Beko Ransome-Kuti, who was a human rights activist and physician. He was also the brother of Fela Kuti and the son of Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti, who I mentioned earlier. Fifth, I’ll list Gani Fawehinmi, who was a lawyer and activist who spoke out against military rule in Nigeria. Sixth, I’ll list Olusegun Obasanjo, who served as the president of Nigeria from 1999 to 2007
Seventh I’ll list Obafemi Awolowo, who was a leading figure in Nigerian nationalism and is considered one of the founding fathers of the modern Nigerian state. He also helped to establish the University of Ife, which I mentioned earlier. Next, I’ll list Aminu Kano, who was a political leader and activist who spoke out against colonialism and for a more just society in Nigeria. Ninth, I’ll list Chief Ernest Shonekan, who was the interim president of Nigeria from 1993 to 1994. And finally, I’ll list Muhammadu Buhari, who
was a military ruler of Nigeria in the 1980s and was elected as the current president of Nigeria in 2015. He has been credited with restoring security and cracking down on corruption in Nigeria. -
ECOWAS stands for the Economic Community of West African States. It’s an organization of fifteen West African countries, established in 1975 with the aim of promoting economic cooperation and integration in the region. But it has also expanded its goals to include peace and security, human rights, and sustainable development.

I’ll start with the inventions by Africans. The first one I’ll list is the plow, which was invented in the Sahel region of Africa and was used for agriculture. Second, African people also invented the water wheel, which is a device used for irrigation and grinding grain. Third, Africans also invented the system of checks and balances, which is a principle of government that ensures that no one branch of government becomes too powerful. Fourth, the ox-drawn plow was also invented in Africa, which helped increase agricultural production.
The next invention I’ll list is the use of carbon steel in iron-smelting, which was first done in the Great Lakes region of Africa. Sixth, Africans also invented the practice of inoculation, which is the process of introducing a weakened form of a pathogen into the body to stimulate the immune system. Seventh, Africans also invented the practice of using vegetative propagation, which is the process of growing new plants from cuttings or roots rather than seeds. Eighth, the technique of carbon dating was also invented in Africa, which is used to determine the age of organic materials.
