THERE IS NO FUTURE IN THE PAST
It’s not just about what happens to people, but also about how how what happens makes people feel and how it affects them mentally and emotionally.
I’ve met people who are aware of their traumas and who want to do better and move forwards but their wounds are holding them back, making it difficult to progress.
It’s challenging to break free from the cycle of victimhood when you are deeply wounded. Having to climb a mountain to heal oneself is a rollercoaster that many people struggle to achieve; so instead, they just pass their pain on (in)voluntary!
Friend, if you’re struggling, start by acknowledging your pain and all the emotions you feel. Then remind yourself that you can’t build a healthy future if you’re constantly dwelling on a toxic past and that no matter what you’ve been through, you CAN move forwards. You just got to really want to and believe you can do it.
Take baby steps every day to heal yourself. Remember what you need to remember, but try not to dwell too much on what you need to forget. Keep doing this, as much as you need to, until you reach a place where remembering won’t hurt anymore.
